She was preceded in death by her parents, Pedro and Juanita Gomez, and her sister, Delfina Gonzales. She is survived by her loving husband of 70 years, Edwardo (Eddie) Melendez. Their son’s, Lionel Melendez, wife, Kathy, Rick Melendez, wife, Liz and three Granddaughters, Danielle, Monica, Raquel Melendez, one great-granddaughter, Jocelyn Melendez. Brother, Richard Gomez, Brother Ernest, and sister-in-law, Virginia. She was loved by many nieces, nephews and other relatives.
Connie was born February 11, 1931, in Roswell, NM. She was raised there and married the love of her life, Eddie Melendez in 1951. They moved to Albuquerque, with their two sons in in 1967. Family meant the world to her and loved any reason to open her home for any type of company or gathering.
She retired from Farmer’s and State Farm Insurance with a total of 35 years. She then went on to work with her church as the Secretary to the Pastor, then retired from there.
Connie was a Godly and devout Christian woman. She was a shining example of the Lord and raised her family as such. A perfect example and Godly heritage for her family to walk in. She was involved and loved her church. She worked in the church in whatever capacity there was to do. Whether it be, teach sunday school, WMU, singing in the choir, working in Vacation Bible School, the nursery. She would always volunteer anytime anything was needed. She loved her Christian Family at First Bilingual Baptist and wasn’t happy when Covid hit and she had to miss church services.
Connie and Eddie loved to attend the Spanish Conventions, and Evangelism conferences and events. They also loved to travel in general with family and friends.
She loved her family and was such a blessing to so many, we have many wonderful memories. She is in her forever home and rejoicing in Heaven. It’s hard to be left behind and she will be truly missed, but we will see her again.
