Connie Ruth Bivens, age 78, of Rio Rancho passed away peacefully on Thursday, April 29, 2021. Connie was a Midwestern girl born February 11, 1943, in St. Joseph, Missouri, to Jack and Opal Sams.
Connie married Lloyd Dayle Bivens and lived with him on their dairy farm. Connie moved with her husband from the farm to the big city (Denver) and together they raised their children in a supportive household full of fond memories. She was a loving mother and ever-present helper within the home and at her husband’s business ventures in Big Spring, Texas, and Albuquerque, New Mexico. Connie was proficient on the French horn, the piano and even the organ, providing their Colorado church with worship. She enjoyed reading and keeping up-to-date with current events. She knew how to grow beautiful roses and loved dogs. She was even-keeled, a good listener and offered great advice. She had a tender gentleness about her.
She is survived by her daughter, Karen Medley (husband, Daniel) of Los Lunas, New Mexico; son, Allen Bivens (wife, Elizabeth) of Tigard, Oregon; and two grandchildren: Kristina Ham (husband Joshua) and Brian Medley of Los Lunas, New Mexico; as well as two nieces: Dee Ann Gill of Rio Rancho, New Mexico, and Amy Knight of Paducah, Kentucky. From heaven Connie will witness the arrival of her first great-grandchild this summer. She was predeceased by her loving husband, Lloyd, her sister, Jackie Brown, and her parents.
Thank you to the staff of Retreat Gardens for their excellent care.
