Commander George M. Bell, UNS Ret.
George Milo Bell (Joe) passed away peacefully on Thursday, August 25, 2022, surrounded by his family. Preceded in death by his parents, Edson W. Bell and Georgia Bell; and two sisters, Kay Lowell and Betty Schwenke. He is survived by his loving wife, Carmen; two sons, Mike (Dotty) Bell and Rick (Stephanie) Bell; grandchildren, Roger (Angie) Bell, Jerry Bell, and Kristen (Ryan) James; Carmen's children, Marc (Michelle) Thomas, and Leigh (Thomas) Martinez; grandchildren, Kyle Martinez, Jared Martinez, and Bella Thomas; and three great-grandchildren, Charlie Bell, and Arden and Claire James.
Joe was born on Tuesday, August 9, 1921, in Ladysmith WI. While at Whitewater State Teachers College, he left to join the Navy to become a Naval Aviator, earning the Distinguished Flying Cross for Heroism. Retiring after a 27-year career, he was able to pursue his passion for the outdoors. He was a member of the Sandia Peak Ski Patrol for over 20 years as well as tennis, hunting, and fishing at Bluewater Lake for Tiger Muskie.
The family wants to thank Laurel Bernard for all the love and care provided to Joe.
A Memorial Service will be held on Monday, September 19, 2022, 10:00 a.m., at FRENCH-Lomas, followed by a Reception. Interment with Military Honors, 2:00 p.m., at Santa Fe National Cemetery.
