Collie Mae “Peggy Jean” Spears, age 77, passed away in the comfort of her home on Thursday, August 3, 2017 in Albuquerque, NM. Peggy Jean was born in Victoria, TX on January 21, 1940, to her parents Arthonia Hiawathis and Lillie Mae Todd who preceded her in death. She is survived by her husband of 61 years, Robert Lee Spears Sr; and five sons, Robert Jr and wife, Cathy Spears, Arthonia Eugene Spears, Gregory Bernard Spears, Gerald Anthony Spears, and Tracy Duane Spears; nine grandsons; one granddaughter; five great-granddaughters; and two great grandsons.
There are no words fitting enough to describe the beauty and love Peggy brought into this world. There was never a moment in the day that she did not have a smile on her face and a moment that she did not touch the hearts of others with her joy and laughter that would brighten up your day. She was a special person that had so many gifts, she imprinted her light, love, positivity, and cheer on the lives and hearts of everyone she encountered. She was smart, charming, always full of wisdom, humorous every day, and the most compassionate woman that has ever walked this earth. She made you smile on your darkest days, and made you laugh through your pain. Touched by God to be given so many qualities that this world needed most. She was a mother, a nurturer, a teacher, and what many will also agree on a master chef in the kitchen. Her presence, smile, laugh and love will be truly missed. She was loved by all and will be missed by many. Until we meet again . . . in our hearts you’ll always remain.
A Memorial Service will be held on Friday, August 18, 2017, 10:00 a.m. at FRENCH – University.
