Clyde Raymond McDonald

d. July 4, 2019

Clyde Raymond Crowdus McDonald (CR), a proud native son of New Mexico and the village of Roy passed away on Thursday, July, 4, 2019 at the age of 86. He was born on December 11, 1932 to Clyde Ernest McDonald and Beulah Mary Proctor. He was preceded in death by his parents, infant sister, Audilee, sister, Dolores Doitchinoff; and brother, Thomas Franklin McDonald. The greatest sorrow in his long life was the death of his son Thomas Bureau McDonald in 1999 at the age of 35.He is survived by his wife of almost 60 years, Eileen Bureau McDonald, sons and wives, Clyde (Tuffy) and Darcy McDonald, Michael and Susan McDonald and son James McDonald. Also surviving are the adored ones: grandchildren, Alexander Thomas McDonald, Grace Eileen McDonald and Claire Karen McDonald. His cousin ,Julie Baker Rachlis also survives along with and several nieces, nephews and cousins in NM and PA. Clyde was a Highland High School graduate from one of its earliest classes. He attended UNM where he was a member of Sigma Chi Fraternity and graduated from NM Western University in Silver City. Clyde, a gifted athlete in his youth had a lifelong passion for any game played with a ball. He was even beginning to like Women’s Soccer.....For over 55 years he had season tickets to Lobo Football and Basketball and until fairly recently had attended Lobo baseball games.  He served on the Board of Directors of the Lobo Club for many years, serving as its President in 1978-79. Clyde was the owner of McDonald Electric Co. in Albuquerque and had helped with the construction of many homes, apartments and commercial buildings during his career.  As a 33 year member of AA, he had counseled many other members with his particular brand of Tough Love. Clyde was a God-fearing Christian with not only a strong sense of right and wrong, but a wicked sense of humor. Among his many life pleasures were his family, his friends, boating in NM lakes, skiing in NM and CO, patrolling SE  Alb. and the Altura Park area on his bicycle and his membership in the Take It Easy Club.Though not in good health for the last several years, he remained interested and engaged in life. The family wishes to thank his Doctors, Nurses and Technicians at Presbyterian Hospital and Health Care for their compassion and care of Clyde. His Hospice team was attentive and kind. Without the loving care for his father by Jim McDonald, this road would have been infinitely more difficult and we thank him. Clyde lived a rich and interesting life. He will be missed. A celebration of Clyde’s life will be held on Friday, August 9 at 11:00 a.m. at FRENCH-Lomas. In lieu of flowers please make gifts to the Muscular Dystrophy Association of America or your favorite charity.
