ABEL, JR., CLINTON N.
Age 93, passed away Friday, August 17, 2012. Clinton is survived by his children, Pat and Ellen Abel, Phyllis and Steve Suttle, and Janie and Ed Thomas; grandchildren, Mike Skaff, Steve Skaff, Tom Skaff, Angela Duran, Brian Abel, Jeffrey Abel and Katie Thomas; seven great-grandchildren and two great-great-grandchildren. He was preceded in death by his wife of over 67 years, Helen, and his daughter, Sharon Buchanan. Clinton was born March 9, 1919 in Washington, DC to parents, Clinton N. Abel, Sr. and Janie C. Beach Abel. He attended college at George Mason University in Fairfax, VA. During the 1940's, Clinton joined the Army Air Corp and served in England during WWII. While stationed at Kirtland Air Force Base, he met and then married Helen Marie MacKaron on March 6, 1943 and settled in Albuquerque. He was a long time member of the Carpenters Union Local 1319. Clinton was an avid fisherman, beloved family man, and always enjoyed hosting backyard barbeques. Clinton's family would like to extend their heartfelt appreciation to the caregivers at Atria Vista del Rio and SeniorCare Academy House for the all they did to care for him during the past year and a half. Funeral services will be held on Tuesday, August 28, 2012 at 2:00 pm at French-University Chapel, with visitation one hour prior from 1:00 pm to 2:00 pm. In lieu of flowers, donations in Clinton's memory may be made to the American Heart Association, 2201 San Pedro Dr NE, Building 2, Ste 102 Albuquerque, NM 87110.
