Clifford Parker passed away in his home on December 29, 2021 with his wife and youngest daughter by his side. He was 95 years old.
Clifford was born in Miami, TX to Spence and Minnie Parker on April 30, 1926.
He attended Miami Public Schools. After graduation, he served in the U.S. Army in World War II in the Pacific theater. He attained the rank of S/Sgt.
He attended Phillips University in Enid, OK where he received a B.A. degree. He was ordained to the Christian Ministry in the Christian Church (Disciples of Christ) in 1950. He then attended Brite Divinity School, Texas Christian University in Fort Worth, TX where he received the degree of Masters of Divinity in 1955 and a Doctor of Ministry degree in 1973.
Dr. Parker served as Senior Minister of churches in Texas, Virginia, and New Mexico. He was a man of The Word. In the last 15 years he read the entire Bible though every year at least once and, many years, he read the entire Bible twice.
His friends and family will remember him as a man of patience, kindness, humor, and contentment. He was always available with a listening ear and a word of encouragement.
Dr. Parker was pre-deceased by his parents Spence and Minnie Parker, two sisters Leona Woods and Mary Alice Curl and son, Paul Parker.
He is survived by his wife, Ethyle Parker; two daughters Linda Parker of Nashville, TN and Shari Parker and husband Jose Sanchez of Albuquerque, NM. He is also survived by a brother, Frank Parker and wife Joan of San Antonio, TX. Additionally he is survived by five grandchildren: Claire Siburt and husband Michael of Morrisville, NC; Kennedy Shuler and husband Joel Petersen of Kent, WA. Grant Shuler and wife Victoria of Black Diamond, WA; and Daniel and Joshua Sanchez of Albuquerque, NM. Also, great grandchildren Will, Emma Grace, and Noah Siburt of Morrisville, NC; Malia Shuler of Black Diamond, WA, and Josephine Petersen of Kent, WA. He also leaves behind nieces Barbara Morse and husband Bob of Stevensville, MT and Leslie Boerger and husband Ron of Austin, TX and nephew Tom Curl and wife Lynda of Brookfield, WI.
Graveside service to be held at Sunset Memorial Park on January 14, 2022 at 11:30 am.
