Clementine Schmidt

October 8, 1922 — December 23, 2012

Age 90, passed away on December 23, 2012. She was born on October 8, 1922 in Dayton, Ohio. Clem attended schools and was employed in Dayton for a number of years before her marriage to Robert Schmidt. Clem and Bob made their home in Albuquerque, New Mexico, after Bob's retirement from the Army in 1965. Bob passed away in 1996. Clem and Bob had five children, Rita J. Schmidt Labato (husband, Frank, deceased), Robert J. Schmidt, Jr, Kathleen Schmidt Stratmoen, M. Francis Schmidt, Ann M. Schmidt. Clem's children called her "Mutti" a reminder of the years the family spent in Germany. Clem had seven grandchildren, Christina, Rebecca, Eric, Steven Stratmoen, Laura, Maria and Kevin Labato, and two great grandchildren, Elliana and Ryan Smith. Clem's grandchildren called her, "Granny Goose". That was started quite by accident when Christina was just a baby. The name still holds. Clem loved animals very much, most especially dogs. All of nature was a special delight to her. Clem's family would like to extend grateful appreciation to the staff at Kathryn House, the staff of Hospice de la Luz and Dr. Suzanne Pinon, all of whom provided extraordinary support and care for Clem and her family. Clem was a member of Sangre de Cristo Parish. Visitation will be held Thursday, January 3, 2012, from 4:00 to 6:00 p.m. at FRENCH - Lomas. Recitation of the Rosary will follow the Visitation at 6:00 p.m. Mass of the Resurrection will take place on Friday, January 4, 2012, 10:30 a.m. at Sangre de Cristo Parish, 8901 Candelaria Rd NE. In lieu of flowers, donations may be made to the Animal Humane Association of NM on Virginia SE or the NM Zoological Society Inc.
