Clayton Leo Pierce, 64, born on August 10, 1960, passed away on August 12, 2024, after a brave two-year fight with a brain aneurysm. Clayton's life was marked by his selflessness and dedication to helping others, traits that were evident throughout his personal and professional life. He never forgot to send birthday wishes to family and friends and his "I'm thinking of you" cards for no reason at all always brightened the recipient's day.
After graduating from Del Norte High School, Clayton served honorably in the US Air Force from 1982 until 1986 with tours in Texas, the Philippines, and California. Following his military service, he embarked on a career that included roles as a security guard at the Albuquerque Journal, a Corrections Officer at the Metropolitan Detention Center, and Albuquerque City Security.
Clayton was a devoted husband for 29 years to Allyson and a loving father to his son, Scott. He is survived by his wife, son, and mother, Fay as well as sisters-in-law Rebecca (Paul), Amy (Mike), Mendi (Mark); brother-in-law Jay; father-in-law, Richard; nieces Jordan, Kiana, Peyton, LeeAnn, & Shannon; nephews Josh, Travis, Tyler, Riley & Ernest; cousins Linda, Kirsten, Dana, Millie and numerous other family members and friends who all loved him dearly. He was preceded in death by his father, Billie and brother, John.
An avid lover of nature, Clayton had a remarkable passion for birds. He nurtured several broods of roadrunners, feeding them by hand, and cared for many wild birds and hawks. His artistic talent was expressed through his accomplished self-taught landscape paintings, which were another testament to his love for nature.
Services will be held at French's Mortuary, 7121 Wyoming Blvd NE on August 22nd, 10:00 a.m. In honor of Clayton's love for animals and his compassionate spirit, he asked that in lieu of flowers, donations be made to your favorite animal or stroke charity. Clayton's life and legacy will be remembered by all who knew him as a beacon of kindness and generosity.
