Our hearts were broken in the early morning hours of Saturday, December 18, 2021, when our beloved Clarence was called home to be with the Lord. Clarence W. Filip was born August 18, 1933, in Shiner, Texas to Mary and William Filip.
He was preceded in death by his parents, one brother, and two sisters. Clarence is survived by his loving wife of 49 years Oralia "Charlene" and son, Greg who cared for him at home until the very last minute of his life with his horrible illness. Also surviving him are his children, Clarence Jr. (Donna), Michael (Debbie), Danny, and Cheryl (Merle), seven grandchildren, and eight great-grandchildren.
Clarence was an eight-year service member of the US Air Force, and Korean War. After his service he became a New Mexico State police officer in 1959. He was assigned to different areas throughout New Mexico. When he was assigned to Cuba, NM, he achieved many accomplishments like teaching driving education to Navajo women and school students.
He went through the ranks officer, Sargent, and Lieutenant. He also attended the FBI National Academy in 1977. In February of 1986, he retired from the New Mexico State police.
Clarence will be enormously and greatly missed.
