Clara Lucero

Clara Lucero, 92, a lifelong resident of NM, passed away peacefully on Friday, May 14, 2021, surrounded by her loving family. She is survived by her five daughters, Cynthia Garcia, Pamela Garcia, Antoinette Rivas and husband, Ray, Nancy Roybal and husband, Rick, and Jennifer Mauricio Garcia; grandchildren, Joey, Dominic, Fernando, Jason, Jackie, Monique, Jerilyn, Julian, Matthew, Robert, Susanna and Clara; 27 great-grandchildren; and two great-great-grandchildren. She was preceded in death by her parents, Tony and Tina Mendez; sister, Mary Frances Mendez; husband, Joe Manuel Lucero; and first husband, Edward Garcia. She was a faithful member of the Ascension Catholic Church for many years, and a long-time resident of Valley Gardens. She always participated in the Ascension Church fiestas, she was involved with the choir and many, many church activities. She loved her church and church friends. She was loved by so many. She loved to go to dances and loved entertaining family and friends. She tells the best stories of her childhood and working as a "soda Jerk" when she was a teenager. We loved hearing her stories and made us appreciate all that she had done in her life. She was a beloved mother and grandmother, and she will be dearly missed.

A Rosary will be held Monday, May 24, 2021, 6:00 p.m., at FRENCH-University. Mass of Christian Burial will be held Tuesday, May 25, 2021, 10:00 a.m., at Church of the Ascension, 2150 Raymac Rd. SW. Interment will follow at Mt. Calvary Cemetery.
