Christopher Lance Tipton, 42, a resident of Albuquerque, NM passed away Sunday, February 23, 2014. Lance was born in Dalhart, TX. He is survived by his mother and step-father, Kay and Gary Tipton of Wolfforth, TX; brother, Doug Tipton; puppy nephew, Cutler Lee of Fort Stockton, TX; maternal grandmother, Joyce Purdy; paternal grandmother, Alice Garner, both of Dalhart, TX; many special aunts, uncles, and cousins; and his loving friends in Albuquerque. He was preceded in death by his father, Billy Garner; grandfathers, Wes Purdy and C.L. Garner; grandparents, Wayne and Tommie Tipton; and his puppy brother, Roscoe. Lance graduated from Tulia High School and entered military service as a Marine. He later studied communication skills in college and worked as a disc jockey, news reporter, and morning show host in several Texas radio markets including Big Spring, Midland, Lubbock, Brownwood, and Mt. Pleasant. He loved talking to people and was gifted with a wonderful radio voice. He was dubbed "The Golden Voice" by his peers. We will miss his sharp wit and the way he loved to make others laugh. He was Catholic. Burial and a private Memorial Service will be held in Albuquerque, NM the city he loved.
