Christopher Sean Melo

Christopher Sean Melo unexpectedly passed away of a heart attack on December 20, 2021, at 53 years old. A son, partner, older brother, uncle, great friend, community volunteer and above all else an amazing father. The loss of his presence to everyone he knew and everything he touched will never be fully measured.

Chris is survived by his parents, Frank and Cindy Melo, Sidney Pollard; children Lauren and Christian Melo, their mother Dina Melo; partner Janine Zebick, and her children, Brian, and Emily; his brother Matthew and his wife Lisa; his sister Jodie (Zicker) and her husband Michael; his aunts and uncles, nieces, and nephews; countless friends, customers, and co-workers. He was preceded in death by his mother Diane Melo.

A fourth generation Albuquerque native, Chris was well known and loved by many. After graduating from the University of New Mexico in 1990, his lifelong dream of becoming a military Pilot was cut short by a biking accident, which would lead him to pursue a career in the landscape industry, owning and operating MBC Lawn and Landscape for 25 years and subsequently moving on as the Branch Manager at Yellowstone Landscape. Chris loved serving his community and was active in many non-profits that focused on making Albuquerque a better place to live. He served on the board of Altamont Little League and Think Trees (smart urban tree care). An extrovert through and through, Chris also loved nothing more than socializing with his customers and with staff at his favorite local joints where he was known by name and often by his favorite meal.

Services will be held on Friday, January 7th, at The Church of The Incarnation, 2309 Monterrey Rd. NE, Rio Rancho, NM 87144 with Visitation at 9:30 am, Rosary at 10:30 am and Mass at 11:00am.

A Celebration of Christopher's Life will subsequently be held on January 7th from 2:30 to 5:30 pm at the Albuquerque Marriot Pyramid North, 5151 San Francisco Rd. NW, Albuquerque, NM 87109.
