Charles “Chuck” Rasmuson, age 93, passed away peacefully on Sunday, December 22, 2019 from complications with cancer. He is survived by his wife of 68 years, Norma; his children, Sharon Christenson, Charles Rasmuson, and Linda (Tom) Toomer; his grandchildren, James (Rachel), Matthew (Lauren), Kelli (Daniel), and Daniel; and special family friends, Robin and Verla. He was preceded in death by his only sibling, Jeanne (September 2019) and her husband Warren (November 2008).
After retiring from the US Army with 24 years active service, Chuck then spent 17 years with IBM. Retiring for good in 1986, he and Norma spent the next 30 years RVing and visiting family scattered across the US. Chuck was a 35-year active member of First United Methodist Church (FUMC) and the TwoSom Sunday School class. He loved being part of Grace Meal, a program to feed the homeless through FUMC.
His family is grateful for the loving care he received the last two months of his life at Casa de Palomas, especially from his caregivers Christina, Camille and Margie. They will always hold a special place in our hearts. Thanks also to Silver Linings Hospice for their compassionate care and to all those who have reached out to us in love.
The Memorial Service will be held on Saturday, January 11, 2020, 11:00 a.m. at First United Methodist Church, 315 Coal Ave. SW, with a lunch reception to follow in Fellowship Hall. Burial with full military honors will be held on Monday, January 13, 2020 at the Santa Fe National Cemetery. Instead of flowers, those wishing to honor Chuck can make a donation to FUMC or to the Grace Meal % FUMC.
