Charles Selva

SELVA, CHARLES (CHARLIE)Uncle Charlie to most, was born May, 27, 1935 and passed on November 18, 2012. He was a devout Catholic and dedicated member of Our Lady of Fatima Parish. Uncle Charlie loved music, and he delighted his family with his trombone solos throughout his childhood. He attended the University of New Mexico, where he committed his career to bettering the lives of children through music and education. He received as BS from UNM in 1958 and received a Masters in 1968. He taught at Our Lady of Fatima in Albuquerque, and in schools in Telluride, CO and in Fremont, CA. He continued his work in childhood education by selling school books mainly in California and New Mexico/Texas. Charlie retired back in his hometown of Albuquerque and was a long time member of the choir at Our Lady of Fatima. Uncle Charlie was a loving, funny, and thoughtful brother, son, uncle, and friend. He kept his family and friends on their toes by peppering every conversation with his quick, dry wit. Those who were lucky enough to keep up with him always left the conversation with a smile. Uncle Charlie's family and friends will miss him dearly. Uncle Charlie is preceded in death by his mother and father, Mary Rose and Lawrence L. Selva; his loving sisters and best friends Norma Jackson and Eugenia Rendace; and his older brothers Ralph and Stan Selva. Uncle Charlie is survived by his oldest brother, Lawrence Selva. Uncle Charlie's nephews and nieces Katherine Berkebile, Stan, Brad and Cole Selva, Jeff and Chuck Jackson, Jennifer Buffington, and Matt and Mitch Rendace fondly remember him. Rosary will be recited Tuesday, November 20, 2012, 7:00 p.m., at FRENCH - Wyoming, 7121 Wyoming Blvd. NE. Mass of Christian Burial will be held Wednesday, November 21, 2012, 8:15 a.m., at Our Lady of Fatima, 4020 Lomas Blvd. NE, followed by burial at Mt. Calvary Cemetery. Friends may visit Tuesday, November 20, 2012, 6:00 p.m. until time of rosary, FRENCH - Wyoming. In lieu of small bland flowers, Charlie would like big, colorful, obnoxious bouquets.
