Charles N. Maguire, or Chuck as he much preferred, passed away on the evening of August 22, 2021, surrounded by his children and the songs of the Beach Boys.
Chuck was born in Harford, CT, but liked to say that he convinced his parents to move to Albuquerque when he was 8 months old. He attended Highland High School and ENMU before ultimately graduating with his degree in Architecture from UC Berkeley. He was an avid sports fan (any sport), but his true love was always tennis. He was the Head Tennis Pro at the Tennis Club of Albuquerque for ten years before retiring in 1981. He then began his second career in residential design which continued for the rest of his life. Playing tennis and going to TCA for matches with friends or brother Dick were the highlights of Chuck's week. Chuck spent his entire life in Albuquerque living in the Netherwood Park neighborhood, serving on the association board and absolutely loved celebrating the 4th of July holiday at the park.
Chuck follows his parents, Norman and Polly Maguire; and son, Craig Price. He is survived by wife, Carol; son, Garret Price; daughters, Missy Igel and Katie Penn; grandchildren, Rachel, Amelie, Boban, Mila, Rylan, and Keegan; brother, Dick Maguire; and sisters, Marilyn Loser and Susie Garcia.
Chuck was a kind and gentle soul and a friend to all; he never met a stranger. He will be missed tremendously by his family and many, many friends. In lieu of flowers, we know Chuck would love donations to support the New Mexico Youth Tennis Foundation: 2901 Indian School NE, Ste A, Alb, NM 87106 or
