Charles Harris

March 23, 1937 — February 12, 2024

Charles Harris was the 9th out of 11 children born to Ellis and Hattie Harris in Albuquerque, New Mexico on March 23, 1937. He attended John Marshall Elementary School, Lincoln Middle School, and graduated from Albuquerque High School in 1957 where he thrived playing for the football team. He worked for the Mount Bell Telephone Company from November of 1956 to February of 1993, where he eventually retired after 36 years of service. Charles and Peggy were joined in holy matrimony on Saturday July 31, 1982.

Charles Harris was called home to be with the Lord on Monday, February 12, 2024. He was preceded in death by his wife Peggy Ann Harris, parents Ellis and Hattie Harris and several siblings. He is survived by his brother Albert Harris of Aurora, Colorado; his sister Mildred Sealson (Sterling) of Albuquerque, New Mexico; his daughter Bonnie Green; step sons Gregory Hill and Dane Wynn; step daughter Michelle Wynn; grandchildren Laneisha Stone, Larie Fleming, Shacole Wynn, Shandus Shelton, Candus Bing, and Jeffery Wynn; 9 great-grandchildren; and several nieces and nephews.

Charles was an active member of the local Navajo Elks lodge chapter for many years and he was a life-long member of Phillips Chapel CME church where he served on the trustee board, was the custodian, and also sang in the choir. Charles had a passion for football and was a die-hard Cowboy's fan. He also enjoyed watching and attending the men's and women's Lobo basketball games. He enjoyed fishing, playing pool, skating, and he also loved to cook posole for New Years, which his family loved. Charles was a very soft-spoken man of God who loved instilling his Christian morals and values into his children, grandchildren, and great-grandchildren. He touched many lives and hearts throughout the years and he will forever be missed by all who knew him.
