Charles Lee Gutierrez

Charles L. Gutierrez, 77, passed away on August 14th, 2021, in Albuquerque, NM. Funeral services will be held at French – Lomas 10500 Lomas Blvd. NE 87112. On August 28th, 2021, 2:00p.m. Burial will take place in Pueblo, CO and will be determined at a later date.

Charles “Chuck” was born in Oakland, Ca to Charles and Pauline Gutierrez. Raised and went to school in Walsenburg, CO. He attended Trinidad State Junior college, Southern Colorado State college and received his master’s degree from NM Highlands University. Then worked as an accountant at Kirtland Airforce Base for 34 years. Charles married his high school sweetheart, Lillian Gavlan, September 6, 1969. They were married for 51 years. He was a 1LT Army veteran and served in the Vietnam War and was awarded a Bronze Star Medal, Purple Heart, along with many others.

Charles is survived by wife, Lillian Gutierrez; daughter, Jolene Gutierrez-Louis; son-in-law, Lamar Louis; grandchildren, Jahlon Valentine, and Simone Louis; sisters, Lupe Abeyta, Priscilla Trujillo, Barbara Oxley, and brother Joseph Gutierrez and spouses; multiple nieces, nephews, and friends.
