Caruso, Lt. Col. Charles Peter, USAF RET Charles P. Caruso, beloved husband and father, left this life quietly at the age of 88 on May 30, 2015 in Albuquerque, NM. Charles "Chuck" was born May 27, 1927 in New York City, NY to Italian immigrant parents, Peter and Frances (Fronte) Caruso. Chuck served his country in the US armed forces for 25 years during times of peace and war. He enlisted in the US Army in 1945 and served his country proudly until his retirement from the Air Force in 1970. After military retirement he earned a degree in accounting from the University of Albuquerque and operated his own bookkeeping and accounting business locally until his final retirement. Chuck married Mary Margaret Ryan on July 2, 1957 in Colby, KS. They shared a long and happy life together while raising their eight children and moving from one side of the country to the other. Chuck enjoyed going to national parks and watching football. His favorite teams were the San Francisco 49ers and the Washington Redskins. Chuck was preceded in death by wife, Mary Margaret; son, Timothy P. Caruso; his parents, Peter and Frances Caruso; and his brother, James D. Caruso. A devoted father of eight, he leaves behind sons, Charles P. Jr, James T., Thomas G., Joseph G., Edmund R., Raymund E.; daughter, Mary F. Caruso; and their spouses. He is also survived by Ava N. Caruso, who he considers a second daughter; sixteen grandchildren; one great-grandchild; many brothers and sisters-in-law; and many nieces and nephews. Chuck led a life dedicated to service and was a 4th Degree member of the Knights of Columbus in the Catholic Church. The family asks that in lieu of flowers donations be made to the Knights of Columbus at www.kofc.org . A Rosary Service will be held Sunday, June 7, 2015, 4:00 p.m., at FRENCH - University. The Catholic Funeral Mass will be held Monday, June 8, 2015, 10:30 a.m., at St. Thomas Aquinas Catholic Church, 1502 Sara Rd SE in Rio Rancho, followed by the interment at Santa Fe National Cemetery at 1:15 p.m. The Family expresses immense gratitude to all the angels who have helped in any way with the final preparations and care of their Father.
