Charles Carlson Sr. went to be with his forever love, Genevieve, on Thursday, February 24, 2022. Charles was born on November 14, 1918, to John M. and Delta E. Carlson in Eden, Wyoming. He met Genevieve in 1943 when he came to Albuquerque with the Army Air-Corp to open Kirtland Air Force Base. The couple had two children, Charles Carlson Jr. (JoAnn) and Beverlee Henry (Steven/deceased).
Charles was preceded in death by his parents, sister (Evelyn Payne), brothers, Ralph, Bruce and Johnny. He is survived by his children, sister (Greta Jackson); grandchildren, David Henry (Kimberly), Brian Henry, Jennifer Sakolosky (Jeff), and Barbara Harvin (Chris); great-grandchildren, Autumn Henry Sparks, Kyle Henry, Nicholas Henry, Justin Henry, Rylee Harvin, Jake Sakolosky, Chase Harvin, Dylan Sakolosky and Brayden Henry, and many nieces and nephews.
Charles and Genevieve owned and operated Carlson's Jewelry in Albuquerque until retirement in 1983. After retirement they purchased a new motor home and began touring the United States. They joined several RV clubs where they met many new friends who became like a second family.
We wish to thank all the kind and caring staff at MorningStar of Rio Rancho and High Desert Hospice who gave Charles love and gentle care for the last few weeks of his life.
A celebration of life will be scheduled for a later time.
