Charles Robert "Chuck" Borgman

March 31, 1944 — March 14, 2016

Charles "Chuck" Robert Borgman, 71, died peacefully March 14, 2016 following a struggle with amyloidosis and complications related to chemotherapy. He is survived by his wife, Linda; son, Jeff (Amber), their children Olivia and Ty; daughter, Corrie Borgman, and son, Tim (Erin) and their daughter, Alexandra. He is also survived by his sister, Ruth (Herb) Scherer, their children, Melissa, Kenneth and Keith, and his sister, Kathryn Borgman.
Chuck was born and raised on a farm in Saline County, MO on March 31, 1944. He received his Bachelor's degree from the University of Missouri, Rolla in 1965. He moved to Albuquerque in 1966 to pursue a job in electrical and computer engineering at Sandia National Labs. During his tenure at Sandia, he received his Master's degree from the University of New Mexico, was part of the STARS program that took him on extended assignments to Hawaii and Alaska, and retired in 2006 after 40 years of employment. He met his wife, Linda, through the choir at Redeemer Lutheran Church, where they were both active members. They married in 1969.
Of utmost importance to Chuck was his service to and relationship with the Lord. This was reflected through his service to the community, churches and his family. He gave selflessly to organizations such as the ALS Support Group and Stephen Ministries, served in leadership roles at Redeemer and Holy Cross Lutheran churches and at Lutherhaven. He was also a deacon at Shepherd of the Valley Presbyterian Church, where he and Linda are members.
Among his many gifts, Chuck was a talented woodworker and stained-glass maker and enjoyed singing in choir. He also loved to camp and hike, travel and plan travels. He did so extensively in the United States and Europe with forays into the Middle East and South America with his wife and often his brother-in-law, Don Flaxbart. He enjoyed life's little pleasures: time spent with his family, beautiful scenery, music, a good meal and a glass of wine or beer and especially a decadent dessert. His spirit of unconditional love, adventure and sharing will not be lost - he passed along these traits to the many people whose lives he touched.
A Memorial Service will be held Saturday March 26, 2016 at 11:00 a.m. at Shepherd of the Valley Presbyterian Church, 1801 Montano Road NW, Albuquerque, New Mexico 87107.
