Charles "Chuck" Baker, 82, a long-time resident of the Albuquerque area passed away peacefully on May 5, 2018 after a long illness. Chuck is survived by his wife, Karen Mager Baker; children, Tina Lind (Bob) and Sheila Poole (Tina’s mother), Joe Baker and Mary Marples; brother-in-law, Steven Mager (Lisa); and beloved dog, Tasha. He also leaves behind many grandchildren, nieces and nephews. He was preceded in death by his sister, Delores Alexander; and brother, Jimmy Baker.
Born October 4, 1935 in Petrolia, TX to Velma Caddell and Joe Baker, Chuck joined the United States Marines in 1953 and served tours in both Korea and Japan. Upon moving to New Mexico he opened Chuck’s Barber Shop where he worked until retiring. Chuck was also a 32° Mason from Edgewood Masonic Lodge #82. A true cowboy at heart, he enjoyed bull-riding and roping and will be missed by many.
A Graveside Service will be held Tuesday, May 8, 2018 at 10:00 a.m. at Fairview Cemetery. Pallbearers are Nick Bakas, Oscar Love, Steven Mager, John McCauley, Mark Rodgers, Jeff Sollins and Jack Zipper. Honorary Pallbearers are Kenneth Alexander, Robert Dunlap, Robert Hickman, Ian Rabinowitz, Marvin Schumer, Al Thomas and Duane Walker, and Rollie Wussow. In lieu of flowers, the family requests donations be sent to Animal Humane Society or Compassus Hospice.
