Charles “Charlie” Arnold passed away at his home on August 12, 2024 in Albuquerque at 94 years old surrounded by his family.
Charlie was born on May 29, 1930 to Charles Becker Arnold and Kate (Clark) Arnold. He was their only child. He is preceded in death by his wife of 62 years Claudia Hamill Arnold and his parents. Charlie is survived by his six children, Stephen Arnold, Joseph Arnold, Peter Arnold, Ann Gallegos, Jane Roseman, Susan Huckaby, 23 grandchildren, and 7 great grandchildren.
Charlie really enjoyed spending time with his children and grandchildren. He was a natural born explorer that was always searching for new places to investigate. He had a passion for hunting and fishing with anyone that wanted to go in many different parts of New Mexico and Colorado. His cabin on the Conejos River in southern Colorado was a familiar outdoor getaway and source of pride that he generously shared with his family and friends.
He attended Yale and Purdue Universities where he received his BS, MS, and PHD. Charlie was a research chemist for Sandia National Labs from 1967 to 1994 where he was a distinguished staff member that resulted in eight US Patents from his research.
Services will be held at Holy Child Catholic Church in Tijeras, NM at 11:00 AM on Friday August 30, 2024 with burial to follow at Gate of Heaven Cemetery.
