Charlene "Charly" Jaramillo, 71, a resident of Albuqeurque for 62 years, died peacefully Sunday, August 30, 2015 with her family at her side . She is survived by her husband of 53 years, Ray Jaramillo; children, Billy Jaramillo and wife, Kristine, Monie Jaramillo and wife, Jade Chase, Andrea Powell and husband, Kirk, and Ryan Jaramillo; grandchildren, Samantha, Mirranda, Brittany, Ryan, Tyler, Alex, Riley, Blake,and Kylie; five great-grandchildren; siblings, Paula Woods and Wanda Horn; Cousins, John Rowe and Connie Finley; and numerous other relatives and friends. Charly was preceded in death by her parents, Bill and Ortha Rowe. She was born in 1944 in Beatrice, NE and moved to Albuquerque as a child, graduating from Sandia High, Class of 1962. During high school, Charly attended beauty school and became a cosmetologist. She married Ray Jaramillo in Oct. 1962 and they opened La Contessa Hair Salon, and in later years, The Cut Above Hair Salon to which she added her jewelry line, establishing the Cut Above Jewelry Company. Within the jewelry company she developed two designer lines, Designs by ChaRay and Designs by Sanel. Charly pursued her writing and wrote numerous poems and three books. She did a lot of spiritual counseling. Charly touched everyone's life in whom she came into contact with. She was a devoted wife, loving mother, doting grandmother and beloved sister and will be deeply missed by all who knew her. Cremation has taken place and a Celebration of Life Service will be held Friday, September 11, 2015, 3:00 p.m. at FRENCH - Lomas. Because Charly did not like flowers to be cut, memorial contributions may be made in Charly's name to the charity of your choice.
