Celina M. Marquez, age 79, a resident of Albuquerque since 1957, died on Tuesday, September 5, 2017.
She is survived by her sister, Emma Gonzales; brother, Evy Marquez and wife, Julia; nieces and nephews, Paul, Karen, and Danny Gonzales, Steve, Thelma, Victor and Rosita Marquez, and Diane and Orlando Baca; several great-nieces and nephews; other relatives; and many friends, including special friends, May Farmer and David Chavez. Celina was preceded in death by her parents, Ramon and Erinea Marquez.
Celina was born in Milagro, NM in 1938 and was raised by her mother, Erinea; and grandfather, Virginio Maes. She worked at Sandia Labs as a secretary in the research area for 38 years. Celina was a long time member of Our Lady of the Assumption Catholic Church, singing in the church choir for seven years. Celina had a great love for her pets and loved photography and traveling. She was a loving sister, aunt, and friend and will be deeply missed.
A Rosary will be recited on Friday, September 8, 2017, 10:30 a.m. followed by a Mass of Christian Burial at 11:00 a.m. at Our Lady of the Assumption Catholic Church, on the corner of Lomas and Tennessee, NE. Interment will follow at Gate of Heaven Cemetery.
