Celia Birner

Celia (Sally) Birner passed away peacefully at home on Friday, September 29, 2023, surrounded by loved ones. Celia was born in Belen, NM on Monday, July 13, 1931, to Tomas and Raquel Garcia. Celia was beloved by her many family and friends.

Celia is survived by her son, Robert Gabaldon; her stepdaughter Ellie Birner Macias (Tony Macias); her grandchildren Roberta Padilla (Fabian Padilla), Antonio Macias (Rachel Macias) Angela Macias Hosney and Bronson Macias, Angela Maldonado (Oscar), Andrew and Chris Birner. Her great- grandchildren Alexis Birner, Fabian Padilla, Hunter and Summer Hosney, Leighann and David Maldonado, Neveah, Jessica and Christopher Birner.

Her sister, Sister Eileen Jaramillo O.P; her sisters -in-law Jean Gacia, Sara B. Storey and Sharon Birner and many neices and nephews, family and friends.

She was preceded in death by her loving husband of 50 years, John B. Birner. Her father, Tomas Garcia; her mother Raquel; and stepfather Nestor Jaramillo. Her sisters Andrea Camp (Bob), Lala Gabaldon (Gillie); her brother Tom Garcia; her stepson Eddie Birner; her brothers- in-law Charles Birner and Roy Storey; and her grandsons John and Edward Birner.

Celia found great comfort in her Catholic Faith.

She was a loving wife and mother. She really shined as a grandmother, great- grandmother, sister and aunt.

She also had many cousins, friends, and neighbors who loved her dearly.

Celia brought laughter, fun, joy into all of our lives.

She will be greatly missed.

A Rosary will be held on Thursday, October 26, 2023 at 6:00 p.m. at FRENCH- Lomas.

A Mass of Resurrection will be held Friday, October 27, 2023 at 10:00 a.m. at Our Lady of the Annunciation Catholic Church, 2621 Vermont St. NE, Albuquerque, NM.
