Celeste "Chick" Nole peacefully departed this life to join her loving Creator on Wednesday, January 20, 2016 at the age of 93 ½. She was born June 9, 1922, the daughter of Celeste "Mamo" and Jordan Charlton. She was a loving daughter, wife, mother, grandmother and great-grandmother, as well as friend to many. Over her lifetime she warmed many hearts with her beautiful smile and caring ways. After growing up in San Antonio, TX, with her widowed mother and sister, "Patsy", she met the love of her life, Air Force pilot, Jack Nole. The two gave birth to four children, Chuck "Sandy", Tim, Xan and Kathy. Chick's life was filled with wonderful travels thanks to her husband's military career of 30 years. Upon retirement, they returned to San Antonio where Chick became a faithful servant of St. Luke's Catholic Church for 32 years as well as a beloved friend to countless people.
Chick was the mother of four, grandmother of 10 and great-grandmother of 12. At the age of 83, she moved to Albuquerque, NM to be near her daughter, Xan, and son-in-law, Don Porter. In a very short period of time, she once again became loved by all those who got to know her, particularly the friends she made at St. John XXIII Catholic Community.
Chick was preceded in death by her husband Jack and daughter Kathy. She will be forever remembered for her unfailing devotion to God, family and friends, and yes, for that beautiful smile. She will return home to San Antonio, TX for her funeral service at St. Luke's Catholic Church and interment will follow at Fort Sam Houston National Cemetery. There she will be laid to rest with her beloved husband of 53 years, Jack.
Loved by many, missed by all, but forever in our hearts.
Sincere gratitude goes out to Don Porter, Mom's devoted son-in-law as well as her physician for the last several years of her life. Also, to Amy Keenan, Mom's granddaughter, whose unflinching support and love for her grandmother could never be overestimated. Last, but by far not least, to Hannah Dekker, Eileen Hanson, Judy Koskovitch and Betty Gatto for their incredible ministry and friendship with Mom over so many years. What a blessing they have been for all of us; as was the staff of Hospice of NM. Thank you from the bottom of our hearts.
Xan Porter and family.
