Cecil Douglas Buck, age 72, a resident of Albuquerque since 1966, entered the arms of Jesus November 12, 2014, after a diagnosis of cancer in May 2014. He is survived by his beautiful wife of 51 years, Bonnie of Albuquerque; his daughter, Keri Spriggs and husband Steve of Colorado Springs, CO; grandchildren, Graham and Bailey Spriggs of Colorado Springs, CO; his brother, Alan Buck and wife Nancy of Montgomery, AL; his sister, Eva Green and husband Richard of Plainview, TX; seven nephews; three nieces; and 22 great-nephews and nieces. He is preceded in death by his son, Brad Buck of Albuquerque, NM. Doug was born in Amarillo, TX, on August 4, 1942, to Cecil and Billie Buck. He grew up in Lubbock, TX, graduated from Monterey High School in 1960 and graduated from Lubbock Christian University in 1962, and he and Bonnie Cox married on July 20, 1963. He obtained his MBA from Texas Tech University in 1964, and moved to Albuquerque to work for Sandia National Laboratories where he contributed for 33 years. He served faithfully as an elder of Montgomery Church of Christ for 20 years and volunteered at the Albuquerque Rescue Mission, Joy Junction, and Albuquerque Christian Children's Home. He was a generous contributor to Compassion International, Focus on the Family, and provided student scholarships to Lubbock Christian University and African Christian College. He and Bonnie enjoyed having the opportunity to travel to Africa twice to spend time with staff and students at ACC. After Doug retired in 1998, he and Bonnie traveled in the U.S. and internationally. He also loved spending time with his grandchildren, skiing, fly-fishing, and photography. He will always be remembered for his love for the Lord, his compassion and care for others, and his generosity. He was an exceptional husband, father and Paw Paw. Services will be held Thursday, November 20, 2014 at 2:00 p.m. at Montgomery Church of Christ, 7109 Montgomery Blvd. NE in Albuquerque. Private interment services will take place at Sunset Memorial Park.
