Cecelia Theresa D'Amour, 90 years old, passed away on May 8, 2022. Cecelia was born in Las Vegas, New Mexico, in 1931. The youngest of four children, she always spoke of warm memories growing up in a small northern New Mexico town. Her family moved to Santa Fe when Cecelia was in high school, and she graduated from Santa Fe High School. During this time, she met Leo, her soulmate. They married in 1952 while Leo was attending college. They had five children: Louise, Greg, Chris, Ralph and Ronald.
Leo and Cecelia moved to Albuquerque in 1953. Cecelia prided her vocation as a Homemaker and enjoyed the joys of motherhood giving each of her children valuable life experiences and a loving home. Cecelia was called "Mé" (for Mémère, Grandmother in French) by all who knew her. Friends of her children continued to call her Mé through the years and would say "Mé was like a second Mom to me."
Leo retired in 1989 and together they enjoyed a road trip across country and a trip to Europe celebrating retirement and their life as soulmates. Cecelia was actively involved in her church, Our Lady of Fatima Church. She enjoyed a variety of ministries to include The Christian Family Movement, the Our Lady of Fatima Women's Guild, along with the Active Adults in the parish. Cecelia was an active member of the Casa Angelica Auxiliary and frequently helped Casa Angelica in preparing the mail for mailings. In her later years Cecelia reached out to her caregivers giving them support and often praying with them when they encountered sorrows in their lives. In June 2020, Cecelia and Leo celebrated their 68th wedding anniversary.
Cecelia is survived by her children: Louise Turner, Greg D'Amour (Melanie), Ralph D'Amour (June), Ron D'Amour (Katrina); Grandchildren: Kyle Turner (Kristin), Brent Turner (Mandie), Shane D'Amour, Dustin Sartin (Anna), Vanessa McDonald, Leo D'Amour (Alysha), Melodie D'Amour, Renee Carmichael (Jesse), Kelly D'Amour (Logan), Kyle Jenkins, Allison Jenkins; Great-Grandchildren: Abigail Hope Turner, Siena Grace Turner, Armina D'Amour, Ari D'Amour, Anixx Lennon D'Amour, Asher D'Amour Napolsky, and Ashley Galicia (Cesar C), along with numerous nieces, nephews and lifelong friends. Frank, Richard Frank and Marie Frank Flanner.
