Catherine Frick Mosman

Catherine Frick Mosman, born July 3, 1918, Detroit, MI, to Helen and William Frick peacefully passed into the arms of her Lord on January 17, 2018. She was preceded by her brother, John Frick (MIA-WWII), half-brothers, Harry and Charles “Bud” VanDine; her parents, William and Helen; and her husband, Col. Ormond John Mosman (USAF Ret.)

Catherine graduated from University High in Eugene, OR and married OJ, a Lieutenant in the Army Air Corps on November 27, 1937. Thus began a very active life of a military wife. They traveled all over the United States from post to post even and to the far reaches of Adak, Alaska. In the midst of packing and unpacking she managed a household of six children. The family came to Albuquerque in 1961. While the younger children were finishing high school, Catherine began taking night classes at UNM. At the age of 65 she received her RN degree from the UNM’s College of Nursing. OB/GYN was her passion and she worked many years with the doctors in Albuquerque.

Catherine remained active in bridge, loved women’s basketball, Popejoy Broadway Shows and the casinos. She was a member of Our Lady of Annunciation Catholic Church.

She is survived by all six children, Marilyn Novat and husband, Dave of Los Lunas, NM, Dr. John O. Mosman and wife, Patsy of Albuquerque, Kathy Nighbert of Albuquerque, CDR Gary W. Mosman (Navy Ret.) and wife, Paula of Tappahannock, VA, Dianne Ekenberg of Colorado Springs, CO, and Donna Mark and husband, Russ of Bountiful, UT. She is also survived by 20 grandchildren; 20 great-grandchildren; three great-great-grandchildren; and her beautiful Shelties, Aspen and Ladybug.

Rosary will be recited Sunday, January 21, 2018, 6:00 p.m., at FRENCH – Wyoming. Friends may visit beginning at 5:00 p.m. The Mass celebrating her life will be held on Monday, January 22, 2018, 8:30 a.m., at Our Lady of the Annunciation Parish, 2621 Vermont NE. Interment will take place at Santa Fe National Cemetery. In lieu of flowers, donations may be made to Smile Train, P.O. Box 96231, Washington DC, 20090.
