Catherine Pledger Jones

Mary Catherine Pledger Jones, age 81, passed away peacefully on August 9, 2014 with her family by her side. She is preceded in death by her husband, J.D. Jones; brothers, Richard Pledger and Don Pledger; sister, Bobbie Sue Daughtery; and her parents, Carl and Trilby Pledger. She is survived by her three children: daughter, Leslie Van Der Heide and husband Wim and their sons Alexander and Marco of The Netherlands, daughter, Carol Dickey and husband Bill and their children Kelly and Michael of Corrales, NM, and son, Brian Jones of Oakland, CA as well as many nieces and nephews. Catherine was born in Paris, AK in 1933. Her family moved to Carlsbad, NM in 1940 where she was raised. She graduated from Carlsbad High School in 1951. She attended Mary Hardin Baylor University in Belton, TX for two years, where she served as Vice President of her sophomore class and was a member of "The Choraliers" women's choir. She married J.D. Jones of Carlsbad, NM in 1953. They moved to Los Alamos in 1954 where they both worked for Zia Company. In 1957, they relocated permanently to Albuquerque when J.D. accepted a position at Sandia Labs. Catherine was a devoted and active member of St Andrew United Presbyterian Church since 1962, serving as a deacon, elder, member of the choir, and numerous committees. She was blessed with a loving family and many devoted friends. She will be remembered for her devotion to her church, passion for Albuquerque and New Mexico, appreciation of the arts, her beautiful soprano voice, meticulous flair for design, glamour, good taste and a strong sense of tradition. She was a caring and giving person who was blessed with charisma and beauty. She made a striking impression on everyone who met her, and earned the love and respect of everyone who knew her. Memorial Services will be held Friday, August 15, 2014, 6:30 p.m. at St. Andrew United Presbyterian Church, 5301 Ponderosa Ave. NE, Albuquerque, NM 87110.
