Catherine Fincher

September 12, 1927 — September 18, 2024

Our only 3 times Great Grandmother the oldest Matriarch of the Fincher Family became know as Granny when her great granddaughter Shanna was born. Her birth name is Catherine Clara Fincher born on September 12, 1927, who was known to everyone as "Cat" or "Kate". The sunset on her on September 18, 2024, in her passing. Catherine was preceded in death by her parents Phyllis Thompson and Stanley Harris, husband James Fincher and his two children Emma Lee Holland and James Fincher (Survived by his wife Inez Fincher), Granny's siblings, Myrtle, Vicie, Gladis, Henry, Robert, Ardell, Frances, Roscoe, Rose, Rit, and twin sisters Linda and Carol.

Granny was blessed enough to enjoy 15 grandchildren, 28 great grandchildren, 12 great-great grandchildren, and 3 great-great-great grandchildren. She was a caregiver to many children in the communities for which she lived, her family, and friend's children of all ages throughout most of her life for whom she loved.

Catherine was born and raised in Mudfork and Pocahontas Virginia. She lived in West Virginia a good portion of her life. Move to Pittsburgh PA, and Colorado Springs, CO to help care for the great grandchildren eventually moving to Rio Rancho, NM, permanently. She was baptized at an early age and grew up methodist and rededicated her life to her Lord and Savior Jesus Christ and was re-baptized in Colorado Springs at Christ Temple Apostolic Church under Suffragan Bishop William Ingram. She attended Calvary Apostolic Temple under Pastor John Pearson; church also known as Restoration Life Ministries under her last Pastor Tom Pearson.

Granny was very sassy, funny with some real country sayings, a great storyteller with a lot of old wives' tales and like to have a good time in her younger days. She was a spectacular cook and some of her signature dishes and our favorites included homemade fried breakfast potatoes with onions, Fried chicken, green beans, mash potatoes, biscuits or cornbread with gravy, chicken and dumplings. One of Granny's favorite snacks was corn bread and buttermilk.

Granny loved so many people and pour into so many lives full of wisdom and was beloved by everyone who met her. Her long life of 97 years was a testament to all the people she loved and cared for in so many ways in how she showed love not just to her family, but others who became family. We are thankful for the life and legacy she leaves behind to carry in our hearts and memories of her.

The Fincher, Holland, and Pearson family want to thank the Presbyterian Hospital Care Team who assisted in taking care of Granny in her last days here on earth. A very heart warming and special thank you to her granddaughter Shanna who took care of Granny full time for the last 7 years of her life, and her grandson Abram who was always extremely attentive to her always calling and checking on her, and her favorite grandchild (Yes, it is True, He's the Favorite!) and a special shout out to her great-great grandson Elijah who watched her every Sunday for 1 ½ years so we could attend church. Thank you to Restoration life Ministries and everyone for your prayers and support.
