Catherine E. Craig, aged 82, devoted wife and mother, passed away Wednesday, December 30, 2015 at Lovelace hospital in Albuquerque, NM.
Katie was born January 28, 1933 in Southampton, Long Island, NY, to William R. Rawson and Marcia P. Bennett, the eighth of nine children. All her siblings preceded her in death.
She grew up in East Hampton where, in 1951, she met and married Air Force airman, Robert J. Kraft. Here there first child, Robert J. Jr., was born. Their daughter, Kimn Lee Kraft, was born 4 years later in Boulder, CO.
The family moved to Albuquerque in 1967. In 1974 Katie and Bob divorced, and in 1976 she married Don N. Craig (deceased 2009), becoming step-mother to Don N. Jr., and Sylvanna Kay Craig. Katie retired from Albuquerque Public Schools after 25 hardworking years as a baker.
In 2007 she was diagnosed with Alzheimer's disease. She has been lovingly cared for by her daughter and son-in-law for the past five years. Katie's sweet, happy, loving spirit will be greatly missed by all her family and friends.
She is survived by her son and daughter-in-law, Bob Jr. and Lorraine Kraft; daughter and son-in-law, Kimn and Ric Vasquez; step-children, Don Craig Jr. and wife, Beth, and Kay Johnson and husband, Gene. Also surviving are 10 grandchildren and 2 great-grandchildren.
