Sister Catherine Cappello, Canossian Daughter of Charity, born in Italy on May 22, 1934, and died in Albuquerque May 6, 2022. She lived a vibrant 66 years of religious life and served God's people generously as a missionary in Albuquerque, New Mexico; Chihuahua, Mexico; Sutters Creek, Jackson, Sacramento, and San Francisco, California.
Sister Catherine was a teacher and a Catechist par excellence. She arrived in the Province of Cristo Rey in the United States as a missionary in 1961 with the sole focus and fervor to make Jesus Known so He may be Loved.
She always said "Canossian Sisters are the sisters of the people". Sr Catherine truly was the people's sister who left her footprints on the hearts of all those who knew her. Her smile, her laughter, her love for: nature, music, art, and love for life was not only magnetic but contagious.
She freely shared her deep communion with God through her simplicity and profound wisdom. As a spiritual mother and confidant to many she journeyed with gentle compassion to help understand the mysteries of life with the eyes of faith.
The community of Canossian Sisters as well as the greater communities and parishes where she served will miss her physical presence but will treasure the life she shared with each one.
The funeral will be held Thursday May 12th, at Our Lady of the Annunciation Parish, with visitation starting at 9:30 am, rosary at 10:00 am, mass 10:30 am, followed by interment.
Mass will be livestreamed. The link is:
