Cassandra Lynn Hutchison

Beloved daughter, sister, mother, niece, friend and fiancé, passed away on June 24, 2016. She was born July 16, 1986 in Ft. Hood TX to James and Pamela Hutchison. She entered this world on a Wednesday night. Just shy of 10 lbs. she was twice the size of the other babies in the nursery. A year later she became big sister and best friend to Courtney. They were destined to always have the others' back. Cassie was a naturally talented girl who seemed to be good at everything she decided to do. An exceptional athlete, she ran track for Moriarty High School, setting a school record in triple jump which held for over 10 years. When she learned it had been broken, she was ready to go back and jump again to reclaim her title at 28 years old. "I can do it!" she said. In addition to track Cassie also played soccer on her high school team for 3 years. As if that wasn't enough Cassie announced at age 14 she wanted to take up motocross racing. She competed for 3 years before quitting to pursue a college degree at NM State University, switching to UNM after 2 semesters to be closer to her family. She put her education on hold to take a job working with rescued horses. Her passion for horses led her to her own cowboy, fiancé, John Chavez. They were blessed with a son, Houston Robert, in January 2015. Cassie was passionate and silly, creative, artistic and funny. Her gifts were thoughtful and handmade, covered in glitter and filled with love. She loved to cook, and garden, but felt her greatest achievement was her son. He brought her so much joy, and she was a wonderful, loving mother. She lived life to the fullest and was always ready to help a friend in need, no matter the cost. Taken much too soon, her loss will be felt by so many people whose lives she touched in her short time with us. She is survived by her mother and father; sisters, Courtney and Mikayla Hutchison; brother, Tyler Hutchison; paternal grandmother, Joyce Hutchison; and grandfather, James Hutchison Sr; fiancé, John Chavez; son, Houston Robert Chavez; and many aunts, uncles, and cousins. The family will have a public Memorial Service to honor her memory Friday, July 1, 2016, 4:00 p.m. at the Moriarty Civic Center, 202 Broadway, Moriarty, NM 87035.
