Carol Overton

Carolyn Sally Overton, beloved mother, grandmother, and great-grandmother, passed away on Wednesday, March 13, 2024, at the age of 79. Born Wednesday, August 16, 1944, in Washington, DC (lived in Beltsville, MD) to Glenn and Margaret Perkins. She will be greatly missed by her husband of 37 years, LeRoy W. Overton of Rio Rancho, son Kevin Tecklenburg (Vanessa) of Albuquerque, daughter Dava Durante of Gallup, grandchildren Jennifer Durante of Albuquerque, Kathryn Boehm (Frederic) of Albuquerque, David Durante of Gallup, and great-grandchildren Wyatt Boehm and Emily Boehm of Albuquerque, sister Margaret Sue Berger (Edward) of Gallup, brother Glenn Perkins Jr. (Teresa) of Farmington, and loving nieces, nephews, and friends. 

Carol was preceded in death by her mother, Margaret Evelyn Perkins and father Glenn Cornett Perkins Sr. of Farmington, NM. 

Her family moved from Maryland to Ft. Wingate, NM when she was 10 years old where her father worked at the Sheep Lab. After graduation from Gallup High School, she moved to Gallup and worked as an executive secretary and personnel officer for the McKinley County Commissioners Office. She enjoyed her volunteer work with Rehobeth McKinley Christian Hospital (RMCH) Auxiliary and organized several charity invitational balls. She and her husband LeRoy moved to Albuquerque in 2017 to enjoy their retirement with family and friends. 

Carol enjoyed traveling with her husband, cruises, camping, baking (especially her home-made tortillas, red chili, chocolate chip cookies and pecan pies), crafting (particularly homemade cards and diamond art), playing cards with her Hand and Foot group, attending Balloon Fiesta and Casino gambling. She enjoyed spending time with her son Kevin, her sister Sue, her niece Robin, granddaughters, Katie & Jennifer, great-grandchildren, Wyatt and Emily, and her long-time friends, Sally McNatt, and Carol Saunders.

May her spirit find eternal peace, and may her memory bring comfort to all who knew and loved her. 

Join the family for a Life Celebration on Friday, April 5, 2024; 2:00 p.m., at FRENCH-Rio Rancho. Her final resting place will be at the Santa Fe National Cemetery where she will be laid to rest at a later date.
