Carolyn Lea Johnson passed away peacefully March 4, 2024, at the age of 81 with her three children by her bedside. She was born July 19, 1942 as the only child of Clayton and Evelyn Morgan. Carolyn was preceded in death by her parents and granddaughter, Lorana Johnson. She is survived by her son Scott Johnson, daughter Debbie & husband Jordan Wommack, and son David Johnson & wife Anne Wilson, grandchildren Clayton & wife Emily Johnson, Jesse Johnson, and Stacey & Trevor Wommack, along with great-grandchildren Avery, Remi & Rhett. She was a loving mother to her children and loved to brag on her grandkids and great-grandkids. As a lifelong Albuquerque resident, she made many friends in her life and was part of the first graduating class at Sandia High School in 1960. Carolyn graduated magna cum laude with a Bachelor of Arts degree from UNM, and worked as director of the Emeritus Academy at CNM. One of her proudest achievements was becoming a Master Gardener through the Abq Garden Center. Over the years she enjoyed square dancing, bowling, gardening, decorating her home, making gift baskets, and having a pet dog as a companion. Carolyn also took great pride in being an avid member of Jazzercise for many years. In Carolyn's words, "Being a mother is the most important and meaningful to my heart. It's all I ever wanted." Carolyn will be laid to rest at Sunset Memorial Park this Thursday at 12:30pm.
