Glasgow, Carolyn
Carolyn Joyce Burch Glasgow, 84, passed away peacefully on March 23, 2016. Carolyn was born in Topeka, KS, on April 9, 1931. When she was still a young girl, her family moved to Tucson, AZ, where she made life-long friends and graduated from Tucson High School. In Tucson she met her husband, Francis Glasgow, an airman stationed at Davis-Monthan Air Force Base. They married in 1950, and the Air Force took them to England, Oklahoma, Nevada and Albuquerque, where they chose to live after Frank retired from the Air Force.
Carolyn worked in the medical field, first as a volunteer at Presbyterian Hospital before moving into a position scheduling surgeries in the operating room. From there, she worked for Sandia Surgical Associates for many years.
Carolyn learned to play piano as a young girl, and even in the height of the Great Depression her parents managed to purchase a family piano. It remained a prized possession of Carolyn's for more than 70 years, and she enjoyed playing everything from Beethoven to ABBA. Carolyn was an avid bowler and bowling coach for youth leagues in the 1960s and 1970s, a competitive ballroom dancer in the 1980s, and a ceramics artist and adult literacy volunteer in the 1990s.
Carolyn was preceded in death by her parents, Harry and Ruth Burch; her brother, Raymond; and her husband, Frank. She is survived by her son, Stephen and his wife, Bonny; her son, Kevin and his wife, Ceela; her grandchildren, Melissa, Stephen, Rebecca, Amber and Sophie; and her great-grandchildren, Ian, Declan, Gunnar and Stormy.
Carolyn treasured many beloved dogs in her life, including Schnaps, Pepe and Sable. She found love and companionship in their company and "spoiled them rotten." In lieu of flowers, the family requests that a memorial donation be made to Animal Humane New Mexico.
The family would like to thank the staff of Casa Palo Duro for their loving care and support of Carolyn and the family.
