Carolyn Marie (Gary) Eyster

January 20, 1933 — April 12, 2022

Carolyn Marie Gary Eyster passed away in Albuquerque, NM on Tuesday, April 12, 2022, with caring support from her loved ones who mourn her passing and honor her for a life well lived. She was born to Burl Martin Gary and Gladys Rue Steinbarger Gary on January 20, 1933, on the Gary farm in Fremont, IN. She grew up farming with her Dad. She could carry a 50 pound sack of feed over her shoulder as a girl.

She met Jack Edwin Eyster of Metz High School at the Invitational Basketball Tournament in Fremont on New Year's Day 1948. When he enlisted in the Air Force, she stayed in Fremont to complete high school at Scott Center. The couple married at Metz Christian Church on September 9, 1951 and "set up housekeeping in a cute little doll house" they bought for $7,500 at 1333 Marron Circle in Albuquerque.

Her life work was education; eight years in Albuquerque Public Schools Testing Services and 14 years as Secretary at La Mesa Elementary School. She worked multiple jobs to make a better life for her children. A proud Air Force wife, she appreciated being recognized for her contribution every Veteran's Day.

She was the picture of devotion to her loved ones; second to none in care and kindness. She expressed her love of family and friends in baking for them. She was a faithful servant of her Heavenly Father.

She is survived by her husband, Jack; sister, Bonnie Deller of Dimondale, MI; by her daughter, Gaye Marie Gruber of Albuquerque and husband, Tim, sons, Josh Walters of Durham, NC (daughter, Piper Gaye) and Nate Walters of Ft. Worth, TX and wife, Sara (children, Abigail and Ben) and by son, Gary of Albuquerque and wife, Melodie, daughter, Amber Kennington (sons, Miles and Gavin), son, Timothy Eyster of Santa Fe and wife, Stevieh (daughter, Evan).

Contributions in her memory may be made to Joy Junction. Carolyn's life will be celebrated in a service this summer.
