Carolyn Dey (Pinney) Parrish

On the evening of October 29, 2022, Mrs. Carolyn Dey Parrish passed away in her home located in Albuquerque, New Mexico, with the exceptional support of Hospice. Her youngest son, Christopher, was with her when she passed. Carolyn was known to friends and family as "Pat." She was born in Pensacola, Florida, on January 24, 1929, to Edward and Caroline "Billie" Pinney. In 1950, and at the age of 21, Pat married Alexis "Lex" Craven Parrish, then a Staff Sergeant in the Marine Corps. Together, Pat and Lex raised four children, Michael Craven, Darcy Dey, Robert Scott, and Christopher McClure, and were married for 64 years until Lex's passing in 2014 at the age of 87.

While raising their family, Pat and Lex remained politically engaged and always sought ways to be in service within their local community. They spent their later years kicking up their heels as part of a local square-dancing group and were known for their generosity in hosting gatherings at home.

Pat was a strong partner to Lex as a wife, best friend, and mother. Known for her sharp mind, extraordinary organizational skills, and quick wit, Pat deftly handled intricate social and professional networks as Regional Coordinator for Chubb and various careers over the years, including medical administrative positions and in the field of nursing, as well as working as a volunteer for Talking Books. In 1980, Pat became the first woman president of the Mystic Valley Soccer League in Gales Ferry, Connecticut.

Pat was an avid reader, and when she did turn on the TV it was generally to watch golf or a favorite movie. Her Bunco group at the Meadows was a great delight. A gifted humanist, Pat found her passion for birding later in life and was always learning new ways of staying engaged with the ever-changing world spanning her 93 years.

Pat is survived by her daughter Darcy, son Mike and daughter-in-law Jill, son Christopher and daughter in-law and close companion April, two grandchildren Bryan and Daniel, sister-in-law Louanne Stahl, and her beloved 14-year-old poodle-mix Scuffy.

Pat requested a small family gathering for the interment of her ashes alongside those of Lex. A celebration of her life will be held at the Albuquerque Meadows Clubhouse located at 7112 Pan American Freeway NE on November 26, 2022, from 2-4:00pm.
