Carol Thorman, age 84, of Albuquerque, New Mexico, passed away on Saturday, September 9, 2023 surrounded in love and prayer by her children. She was born in Wisconsin and happened to move to Albuquerque, New Mexico, when her car broke down on a trip to Arizona. After falling in love with the turquoise skies, majestic Sandias, and June temperatures, she moved her family here and has lived around the Albuquerque area for the last 50 years.
She is preceded in death by her parents, brothers and sisters. She is survived by her son Glen (Birgitta) of New Mexico, daughter DeAnne (Craig) of Tennessee, and son Shawn (Kristin) of South Carolina, as well as grandchildren Dallas of Colorado, Jonathan of Alberta, Canada, and Skylar of Colorado, and three great-grandchildren.
Carol led a full life and loved the outdoors, dancing, rescuing animals, and country music. She particularly loved camping with her children and grandchildren. Her upbringing gave her a strong character and independence, which served her well throughout her life. She was a devoted and supportive mother who only sought the best for her children, but also gave them the tough life lessons so that they could be strong and independent as well. She told her children they could be anything they wanted to be, and she would support them in that.
Her memorial service will be 3 pm on Friday, November 3, 2023, at FRENCH-University. In lieu of flowers or cards, please send donations to your local Animal Humane Society. Please visit our online guestbook for Carol here. Carol, you were deeply loved and will be sorely missed.
