NIGREY, CAROL ANNOur beloved wife, mother, and grandmother unexpectedly was called to eternal life on Saturday, January 26, 2013 due to congestive heart failure at Presbyterian Hospital in Albuquerque, NM. Carol Nigrey was born on December 19, 1940 in Philadelphia to Thomas and Eleanor McDermott. She was the oldest child in a family of two sisters, Catherine McDermott and Susan Picciotti (nee McDermott) and one brother, James McDermott. She grew up in Philadelphia, PA where she attended Catholic Elementary and High Schools. Upon graduation from High School she entered the working world where she excelled in various capacities of clerical, secretarial, and administrative work. While she lived in Philadelphia for many years, she also lived for shorter periods of time in Colorado and the Republic of Panama. She met her husband, Paul in Philadelphia shortly after he graduated from college. While raising two children, she was very instrumental and supportive of helping her husband work his way through graduate school. The family relocated to Albuquerque, NM in 1983 where Carol worked for many years as an administrative assistant to the general manager at the Coronado Club on Kirtland Air Force Base while her husband was a researcher at Sandia National Laboratories. Ever the consummate homemaker, she enjoyed cooking and always was ready to offer her cooked delights for her family, friends, and neighbors. She retired from the Coronado Club in 2005. In her retirement years, Carol learned to enjoy her family, especially her granddaughter, Jessica and grandsons, Ryan and Andrew as well as her step-grandsons, Timothy and Nathaniel. Carol and Paul spent some of their retirement years traveling throughout the western U.S. in their RV but more recently spent time in their winter home in Lake Havasu City, AZ. Carol was preceded in death by her parents and brother. She is survived by her loving husband, Paul J. Nigrey, by her loving children, Robert M. Burns and his wife, Deborah of Albuquerque; daughter, Karen N. Carstensen and her husband, Bob of Albuquerque and youngest son, Michael P. Nigrey and his wife, Miranda of Ellensburg, WA.
