Carol Ann (McClary) Myers

Carol Ann McClary Myers was born in Dawson, New Mexico on June 2, 1928. Carol grew up with her older brother, Robert McClary, and a younger sister, Marcia McClary. After graduating High School in Dawson, Carol attended the University of Redlands in California.

Carol met Dwight Myers when she was a senior and he was a freshman at Redlands. They married on September 16, 1950. Carol graduated with a Bachelor of Music degree in Education. She taught for two years at Barstow Junior High School as well as in the elementary schools of the little outlying communities of Daggett, Yermo, and Hinkley.

Dwight enlisted in the Air Force in 1952. He was then assigned to Lawson Air Force Base in Columbus, Georgia. There, Carol took a civil service job in the Armament Shop of Ft. Benning. Before being reassigned to Kirtland AFB in Albuquerque, Dwight and Carol had their first son, Robert Andrew, in Georgia. Debra Ann Myers & James Andrew Myers were then born in Albuquerque.

The family moved to New Jersey for ten years where Carol taught private piano lessons while raising three children. In 1970 the Myers’ family moved back to Albuquerque. Soon after, Dwight and Carol started the New Mexico Book League and its magazine, Book Talk. Carol also began employment at the University of New Mexico Press in late 1973, and continued until her retirement in 1988. Carol was the Sales Manager at UNM Press. Dwight and Carol both came to retire in their beloved Albuquerque, NM.

Carol passed away on July 31, 2017 and is survived by her eldest son, Robert, and his wife, Lorraine, of Albuquerque, NM; daughter, Debra Myers and partner, Ray Parrish of Alto, NM; and son, James, and his wife, Jennifer, of Albuquerque, NM; James’ daughter, Brianna, and son, Taylor, of New York.

Carol was always very generous and gave to many charities.  Therefore, in lieu of flowers, please give to your favorite charity in Carol's name.

Memorial Services will be held Friday, August 18, 2017, 10:00 a.m., at FRENCH – Wyoming.
