Carol Hemphill, 97, beloved mother, grandmother, and great-grandmother, was called to her eternal resting place on April 10, 2017. Carol was born to William and Helen Davis on December 11, 1919 in Rahway, NJ.
She is survived by her son, James Gregory; her daughters, Phyllis McHugh and Charlene Wilson (James); her grandsons, Sean McHugh (Jean), Karl Holder (Leighanne) and Travis McHugh (Heidi); her granddaughter, Kristine Holder, and great-grandchildren, Kayleigh Holder, Kyle Holder and Ava McHugh. Carol was preceded in death by her husband, John Holder, Sr.; her husband, Frank Hemphill; son, John Holder, Jr., and two grandsons, Thomas Wilson and Gary Wilson.
Carol worked in the payroll and banking department at Merck Pharmaceuticals and retired with her late husband, John Holder, Sr., in Rio Rancho, NM. She spent many years traveling abroad with her husband, and also visiting ghost towns throughout the southwest. When Carol was not traveling, she spent much of her time working with the Ranchettes in Rio Rancho. She loved animals and logged countless miles walking her dogs twice a day. Carol also enjoyed playing cards, talking about her days playing basketball and anything that involved John Wayne.
A visitation will be held Monday, April 17, 2017 from 10:00 a.m. to noon at FRENCH - Westside. Following the visitation, Interment will be held at Sunset Memorial Park, 924 Menaul Blvd. in Albuquerque. No formal services are planned, per Carol's wishes. Memorial donations may be made in Carol's name to The American Cancer Society, www.cancer.org.
