Carol Franklin, age 78, wonderful wife and loving mother and grandmother, passed away on Tuesday, December 20, 2016, surrounded by her family. Carol was known for her upbeat attitude and zest for life! Carol loved to cook, work the crossword puzzle, and she loved her team, the Dallas Cowboys. She enjoyed her ladies Bible class, her cats, and her precious grandchildren and great-grandchildren. Carol loved long walks and any time spent outdoors with family. She enjoyed music, theater, sports, and George Strait! She had a flair for decorating, especially during the holidays. Carol enjoyed traveling and was able to see Africa, Japan and Ireland.
Carol is survived by her loving husband of 55 years, George Franklin; her daughters, Lynn McElveny and husband, Waiming, and Ashley McDonald and husband, Mike; grandchildren, Robert Williams and wife, Brittany, Gage Williams, Karlee Williams, and Ryder McElveny; two great-granddaughters, Alana and Haylie Williams; and brother, Joe Seward and wife, Norma. She was preceded in death by her brother, Paul Seward. She also leaves behind many nieces, cousins and nephews.
Also touching Carol's life were her PEO sisters and her church family. Carol belonged to Kappa Alpha Theta sorority at UNM. Carol worked as a flight attendant for American Airlines, a realtor in El Paso, TX, and as an administrative assistant for Gardenswartz Sportz in Albuquerque.
A "celebration of life" Memorial Service will be held on Saturday, January 7, 2017, 10:00 a.m., at Northeast Church of Christ, 11000 Paseo Del Norte NE. In honor of Carol, we are requesting that her friends and family wear Dallas Cowboy attire or patriotic clothing. A reception will follow in the church family center. In lieu of flowers, please contribute to a charity of your choice.
