Carol J. Champion, age 82, a resident of Albuquerque since 1943, died Friday, December 22, 2017. She is survived by her husband of 63 years, Porter Gene Champion; children, Barbara J. Thorn and husband, Fred R., and Brian W. Champion; three grandchildren, Debbie Revoir and husband, Chris, Mark Thorn and wife, Stephanie, and Chris Thorn and fiance, Lorilee Miracle; great-grandchildren, Kaleb Hoyum, Lexi and C.J. Revoir, and Austin and Jax Thorn, Caitlyn and Royse Baker; cousin, Bonnie Suazo; and many friends. Carol was preceded in death by her parents, Fred and Helen Besser. She was born in 1935 in Kansas City, MO and moved to Albuquerque as a child where she met Gene at a church roller skating function. They were married on November 12, 1954. She was a long-time member of Highland Baptist Church and was active with the Keenagers at Monterey Baptist. Carol was active in the Albuquerque Square Dance Assoc. Carol was a beloved wife, mother, grandmother, cousin, and friend and will be deeply missed by all who knew her. Friends may visit FRENCH- Lomas on Friday, January 5, 2018 from 10:00 a.m. till a Service at 11:00 a.m. Interment will follow at Sunset Memorial Park Cemetery, 924 Menaul Blvd. NE. In lieu of flowers, memorial contributions may be made in Carol's name to Navajo Missions, 2103 W. Main Street, Farmington, NM 87401 or the Rock at Noon Day Ministries, 2400 2nd Street NW, Albuquerque, NM 87102.
