Carol L. Ackerknecht

Carol L. Ackerknecht, a resident of Albuquerque, NM since 2000, was born December 29, 1939 in Chicago, Illinois. She was a graduate of York Community High School in Elmhurst, Illinois and held Bachelor of Arts degrees from the University of Michigan and California State University Northridge. She taught high school history and English in Michigan public schools from 1962 to 1964 and later became a magazine editor, freelance writer and technical editor. She has been active in P.E.O., a women's philanthropic organization, since 1999 and has participated in volunteer work for various churches and public libraries in Albuquerque and Los Angeles, where she resided for 27 years.
She is survived by her husband, Charles H. Ackerknecht; her sister, Nancy A. Lavigna, of Grand Rapids, MI. Her surviving stepchildren are Charles J. Ackerknecht of Simpsonville, SC and Mrs. Mark Farner of Corrales, NM. Her step-grandchildren include Kiley, Matthew and Robert Farner of Corrales, NM and Allison Ackerknecht of Simpsonville, SC.
A Memorial Service will be held Tuesday, January 5, 2016 at 3:00 p.m. at Rio Rancho Presbyterian Church, 1004 24th Street SE, Rio Rancho, NM 87124.
