Carmen Porter

Carmen Porter, 71, passed away on Sunday, May 12, 2024, surrounded by her loving family. She was a devoted wife, mother, and grandmother.

Born on September 9, 1952, in Alamogordo, Carmen was a beacon of love, kindness, and immense faith. She dedicated herself to serving God and her family and this commitment was evident in every aspect of her life. 

Carmen had a green thumb and spent countless hours tending to her garden, where every flower was a testament to her nurturing love. Her selfless spirit extended to everyone she encountered, caring for others and providing comfort. Her acts of kindness were not grand gestures but small, everyday moments that touched hearts and made a difference. 

Carmen is survived by her loving husband of 47 years, Roy Porter, their children, Malorie, Roy Jr. and his wife Natalie, and Monica, and her cherished granddaughter Nina. Carmen is also survived by her siblings, brother-in-law James Najera, Mike and wife Leticia, sister-in-law Florence Silva, Ben, Tony, Juan and wife Dawn, Cecilia, Vince and wife Heather, Bob and wife Cathy, Pete and wife Pina, Sylvia and husband Felix Aguilar, Josie and husband Joe Hernandez, and Marty and wife Barbie, her mother-in-law Mary Williamson, sister-in-law, Wynette Guthrie, brothers-in-law Ray Porter and wife Tess, and James Williamson, and numerous beloved nieces and nephews.

Carmen is preceded in death by her parents, Benigno and Josefina, her brothers, Danny, Ed, and George, her sisters, Adelina Najera, Ramona Silva and Terry Reyes, and sisters-in-law, Socorro Silva, and Andrea Silva.

A celebration of her life as we lay Carmen to rest, committing her soul to God’s eternal care will be held at Our Lady of the Assumption Catholic Church on June 21, 2024, with Fr. Edward Domme, Celebrant. Rosary will be recited at 10:30 am with Mass to follow at 11:00 am. Burial will be at Santa Fe National Cemetery at a later date.
