Carmen (Carmelita) Montenegro passed away on Saturday, February 11, 2023 surrounded by her family. Born on Friday, Sept 11, 1931, she was a loving, dedicated and caring mother and was a faithful Catholic and devoted her life to caring for and supporting her children, grandchildren and great-grandchildren through the many passions and difficulties throughout their lives. She was preceded in death by her husband of 58 years, Louis Montenegro and many brothers and sisters. She is survived by her three children, Rita Martinez, Mary Garley and Robert Montenegro; her sister, Gloria Montoya; and brother, Leroy Montoya; her grandchildren, great grandchildren, great-great grandchildren and many nieces and nephews. She enjoyed gardening, tax preparation and was an amazing cook and loved to share stories and experiences of her life. Her generosity and countless life lessons will live on for generations. She was truly the definition of an angel and will be greatly missed. There will be a visitation at 5:00 p.m with a Rosary following at 6:00 p.m. on Tuesday, February 28, 2023 at FRENCH-Wyoming. A Mass of Christian Burial will take place for Carmelita at Our Lady of the Annunciation Catholic Church on March 1, 2023, at 10:00 p.m., with Burial at Santa Fe National Cemetery following at 1:00 p.m.
