Carmen Rosa Hurtado

d. August 8, 2015

Carmen Rosa Hurtado December 10, 1930- August 8, 2015 It is remarkable! In the year 1959, a young woman came to the United States from Lima, Peru. She was sponsored by a business lady and rancher- Mrs. Willie Mae Walsh. The goal was to work and go to school. Somehow the process was slowly achieved and Carmen received both a B.A. and Masters in Education. She taught various subjects in elementary, middle and high schools in Carlsbad and in Albuquerque, New Mexico at TVI Community College, now known as CNM. She immersed deeply in the American culture and became an American Citizen in 1977. After twenty- one years of service and commitment to her students, she retired. Carmen left us on Saturday August 8th, 2015 at age 84 having accomplished her goals and thankful to God, who has stayed with her through the journey. She leaves behind her family in Lima, Peru, her two sisters- Elsa Davila Diaz de Garcia and Rosa Elvira Davila Diaz de Valencia and nieces and nephews.
